"Today, if you hear the voice of the Lord, do not harden your heart." (Psalm 94, quoted in Hebrews 4:7)
God exists, and he calls us!
Everything proves the existence of God. Advances in science and knowledge in all fields of research make it more evident each day—we only have to look at philosophy, science, the beauty and harmony of the world, the mystery of man and the 1,000 proofs of the truth of Christian Revelation. All of these speak of God.
Jesus Christ is actually the only Way to God, the Truth and the Life. (Jn 14:6)
As Saint Peter rightly said on the morning of Pentecost: "In no other than him is there salvation, for under heaven no other name is given to men that can save us." (Ac 4:12)
Saint Thomas Aquinas teaches that "faith is an act of the intellect, adhering to the divine will by means of grace" (2-2, 2-9, cf. Vatican I and DS 3010). It is therefore a full act of the human will that involves man in all his reality:
Objectively speaking:
1/ - We have every reason to believe: the proofs of God’s existence are infinite, and Christian reasons to believe are varied, unique, strong and compelling. No other religion offers so many reasons to believe based on the truth, on solid and attested foundations in a 1,000 different ways (see the section “Reasons to believe”).
2/ - We have every reason to choose Christ and to base our life on love. We all know deep down that money, power, debauchery, selfishness, violence and pride don’t make us happy. We all know that man is made to love and to be loved, and that is what we all aspire to because we were created in the image of God, who is love.
3/ - We have every reason to open ourselves to the grace of God and to allow ourselves to be reconciled to him, as he gives his grace to all those who seek him in truth with good will and uprightness of heart. God responds when we pray and opens the doors of his Kingdom, inviting us to receive Holy Baptism and the Sacraments of the Church which bind us to him, especially the Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation.
Our life ultimately leads us to choose God or to reject Him freely. Even if it’s not a frequent topic of conversation today in a society that rejects God, this choice has eternal consequences. Only Jesus can us save from our sins and give us filial adoption. "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life."(Jn 3:36) "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, whoever does not believe will be condemned."(Mark 16:16)
God infinitely respects our freedom because he is love (cf 1 Jn 4:8), but he exists, he loves us, he calls us and he sent us his Son, in whom we find only forgiveness, peace, salvation, happiness and the fullness of life. Let’s not be afraid to open ourselves ever more to him and to walk to him with assurance, as multitudes of saints, religious and blessed Christians have done before us throughout history!
In short:, If you are not yet baptized, consider accepting this immense gift of God—there is nothing more valuable in this world!
If you are already baptized but your Christian life and your faith are weak, consider awakening in you the gift of God, and through the "baptism in the Holy Spirit," choose to give your life to Christ who is the only safe and solid rock on which we can build our lives with confidence!
