- Nazareth of Galilee:
where Mary received the Archangel of the Annunciation and where Jesus lived for the first thirty years of His life as a member of the Holy Family (i.e. Mary, Joseph, Jesus),
- Aïn Karim of Judea:
where the Visitation to Mary's cousin Elizabeth, who was expecting St. John the Baptist, took place,
- Bethlehem in Judea:
where Jesus, the King of all Creation was born in a stable grotto,
- Cana in Galilee (or Kefr Kenna):
where Jesus Our Savior began His public life at a wedding. Jesus miraculously changed water into wine... Mary had said to the servants: "Do everything he tells you to do"...
- Jerusalem of Judea:
where the Virgin was present at the Crucifixion of Jesus at the Golgotha, followed by His burial in the Tomb, before seeing the Risen One in the Cenacle;
where the Ascension to His Father took place on the Mount of the Olivetrees, under the regard of His Mother;
where, on Mont Zion, the mystery of the Dormition and the Assumption to Heaven of Mary took place...
... are the first sanctuaires of Marian mystery in the world. The Holy Virgin Mary historically lived the most decisive moments of the mystery of the Salvation by Her Son, the Verb of God, Incarnated in the flesh and in the history of mankind.
The salty sands of the Dead Sea, the banks of the Jordan River, the Lake of Galilee, and many other places in the Holy Land traversed by the Savior of the world and by Mary, dotted with ancient sanctuaries, are today places of universally frequented pilgrimages.
All the important Christian religious orders are represented in the Holy Land, particularly Marian orders such as the Sisters of Nazareth. It is interesting to note the presence of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre de Jerusalem, which dates back to the first Crusade.
Today, the city of Nazareth is the center of a universal Marian project:
This project unites, for the first time in history, all the traditional Christian Churches of the Holy Land: the project of the International Marian Center, "Mary's House" located in the heart of the old town of Nazareth, near the Basilica of the Annunciation, to make the Virgin Mary known and loved throughout all the cultures of the world.
This Center "Mary of Nazareth" is under construction, but the associated Website is well worth a visit. One day our goal is to make the site available in twelve different languages, in order to touch the largest number of the world's population with the beauty of Mary's mystery and through her to discover the Salvation of the world by Jesus Christ.
