Aldenhoven

Aldenhoven (Germany)

Aldenhoven's renown beyond its own region goes back to the time of the Romans, thanks to its unique geographical location crossed by three important axes of communication: Aix-la- Chapelle - Cologne, Düren - Tüddern, Verviers - Limbourg - Düsseldorf.

It became even more famous after 1654, when the town was recognized as a place of Marian pilgrimage.

Still today, pilgrims flock towards the imposing pilgrimage church and the miraculous chapel. Crowds are particularly numerous for the special octaves, which take place for:

  • The Visitation of the Virgin (July 2nd)
  • The Assumption (Aug. 15th)
  • The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8th)
