Chicago has over 46 churches dedicated to the Virgin Mary. To name only a few, for instance Holy Cross-Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish was originally Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel founded to suit the growing Mexican population. Immaculate Conception Church was established in 1859 for English-speaking parishioners. The Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii is a place to pray for peace in the heart of “Little Italy.” And Assumption Catholic Church was built in 1881 to minister to the needs of Italian immigrants.

Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica and National Shrine of Saint Peregrine

This shrine was founded in 1874 by three Servants of Mary (Servites) and was elevated to the rank of basilica in 1956. It is a very welcoming house of prayer, to all.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church

In 1886, Our Lady of Mount Carmel was founded as the mother parish of all the English-speaking Catholic congregations of the north side of Chicago. This Catholic community actively reaches out and invites people to follow Christ in the Carmelite spirit.
